The complete Catholic Bible, to read and pray with every day
All 73 books in the classic Douay-Rheims translation, with reading plans, a Word of the day and Lectio Divina.

Reading the Word every day is simpler with a path to follow.
The whole Bible can feel like too much
It is 73 books. Without knowing where to go next, it is easy to start with good intentions and stop a few days later.
What moves you gets lost
A verse speaks to your heart, the day goes on, and later you can no longer find it.
Reading does not always become prayer
The Word asks for silence and a response. It is not always easy to know how to pray with it.
The Scriptures brings that path into one place: you open the app and today's reading is there.
Open it. Choose a plan. Pray with the Word.

A classic Catholic Bible, in the public domain
The Douay-Rheims Bible, revised by Bishop Richard Challoner (1749–1752), is the classic Catholic English translation from the Latin Vulgate. The text follows the 1899 American edition. Its language is traditional, and the Psalms follow the Vulgate numbering.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”John 1:1

Frequently asked questions
Why 73 books?
It is the complete Catholic Bible: 46 books in the Old Testament and 27 in the New, including Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach and Baruch.
Is the language old-fashioned?
Yes. It is a classic translation, with words like “shineth” and “thy”. If it is not for you, the 7-day guarantee gives your money back.
Why is “The Lord ruleth me” Psalm 22?
Because the Psalms follow the Vulgate numbering used in traditional Catholic Bibles. In many modern Bibles, the same psalm is Psalm 23.
Does the app include commentary or study notes?
No. The app has the biblical text, the plans and Lectio Divina. The only notes are the ones you write.
How do I get into the app?

Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first time you open it, the app and the books you have opened stay available on your device. Your highlights and notes sync when you are back online.
